ONIONS

I think most people know what happens when you cut onions. It makes the eyes water. Nothing surprising about it, just a reality when you have to cut onions.

Now does one complain when they have to cut onions? In terms of being surprised that you end up crying? I don't we do.

But I could be wrong. There might be some uninformed being out there that cuts onions for the first time and says, "hey this sucks."

However, I'm going to assume that is not the norm. That most people are more informed and willing to accept what happens when you cut onions.

Just going to go with my gut reaction on that one. After all it isn't like it is a secret right? Not as far as I have heard.

So as a rule we understand the basic rule, don't expect to mess with onions without ending up with some tears. Simple enough right?

Wish that was true for everyone. Life does intrude upon our existence with many cases of onions.

I'm speaking of those things here that end up making us know they are going to lead to some kind of tears. We understand it up front so there should be no complaint.

But that isn't quite how it works. Not from what I have seen. Instead people are prone to look at it and gripe.

Oh it just makes us feel so much better. Not that it improves anything, but we feel better in the process.

There is the old saying about how when you get lemons you are to make lemonade. Basically something good out of something sour.

Not sure that rule applies to onions. Turning them into juice will not improve on them being onions.

Unless perhaps you can somehow turn them into something you can mix with something else. Then perhaps it will be a good thing.

In any case what I do know is if you start out with onions, expect to cry. Plain and simple.

So no complaining. Just go with it. Better than being silly about it and hoping the onions will suddenly become something else. That is a nice dream, but it sucks in terms of being realistic.
