Skyrockets
I felt an Independence Day in your arms
skyrockets bursting in the heart
flashes of intensity
exploding with each kiss,
but it’s a cold and empty holiday
when you don’t see the same sky
if you can’t be left breathless
from the view when those detonations take place.
Don’t sit in the bleachers of night
and think you can ignore
that throbbing, gaping eruption
like it was just another dream.
Because those fireworks always burn
they scorch the insides and cause screams,
so baby don’t hide the crying thrill any longer.
It’s does no good to pretend
for I see those lights ignite in your eyes,
come on baby don’t think you’ll be the same,
tonight the bombardment is coming,
you’ll never be the same
so please don’t treat this as a game,
this spark we have is way too hot
to treat it as a mere flicker.
